Gold

One of our products – gold

Gold is unique. It is a scarce and beautiful metal with a rich cultural history. It is known as a store of wealth in times of uncertainty and it is the foundation on which nations have established their currencies.

Our start with Gold

In 1987 Mr. Frank Biryomumaisho after having done Gold mining for a few years acquired another mine in Uganda and started Quality Mineral Suppliers, where it today is present with Gold mines in Uganda, Congo, and South Sudan.

One of the few metals that combine aesthetic, physical and chemical properties, gold is exceptionally malleable and ductile, conductive and does not corrode or tarnish. Its versatility makes it ideal for use in many industrial applications, and increasingly, it is being used in pharmaceutical research and nanotechnology, which ensures its place in the future, and a great investment object.

The Gold mining process

Gold mining typically involves four main stages: prospecting, mining, extracting, and refining. Prospecting identifies potential gold deposits, followed by mining to extract the gold-bearing ore. The extracted ore is then processed to separate and extract the gold, and finally, the gold is refined into a usable form.

Where do we mine our Gold

We mine our Gold in Uganda, Congo and South Sudan, where South Sudan is a newer mine exploration, while the Uganda Mines are the Oldest of our mines.
Our mines in Uganda and Congo is a mix of Open pit mines and underground mines, while the ones in South Sudan is Open Pit mines.

Milling and the next steps

After the ore has been dug out and brought to the plant, several steps follow, such as Classification, Gravity Concentration, Thickening, Leaching, Adsorption, and Elution. This is all done before the final process at our refinery. This process takes place at our mining area before the gold is brought to the refinery for smelting.

The refinery Process

Gold refining is the process of purifying raw gold, typically from ore or scrap, to achieve high purity levels. It involves removing impurities like silver, lead, and other metals to produce 24k gold (99.9% pure). Common methods include smelting, cupellation, electrolysis, and the use of aqua regia.

Refinery Process

The raw gold, is often mixed with other metals and impurities, and is therefore smelted in a high-temperature furnace where the Impurities are removed through cupellation, where the impure gold is heated with lead.

Since Lead is being more reactive, absorbs impurities and is then removed, leaving behind a more pure gold “button”.
This is just one of several ways to Purify the Raw Gold.

Size of Bars

Our bars usually weighs 1 to 2 Kg each, as many of our customers are from Asia, and Europe. Asian customers many time prefers the 1 kilo bars.

We therefore uses 1 kg as a standard size, but we can melt for you in Tolas, 12,4 Kg bars, 3,1 Kilo bars, but we will need to know in advance the size you want. (These options is only available for contract customers.)
You also have the option to buy Gold nuggets from us and handle smelting yourself.
